Tanzanian giants, Simba SC marched into the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League in style with a 6-0 thrashing of Jwaneng Galaxy on Saturday to book knock on Saturday evening at Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Tanzanians march into the knockout stages of the competition for a second time in a row and will be aiming at making stronger statement this season.
The resounding victory by Simba meant former champions, Wydad AC’s 1-0 win over Asec Mimmosas was futile, as the Tanzanians marched on courtesy of goals by Saidi Ntibazonkiza, Pape Omar Jobe, Kibu Denis, Clatous Chama, Ladaki Chasami and Fabrice Ngoma.
The two results marked the conclusion of an exciting Group B that sees Asec Mimosas finish top of the group with 12 points, followed by Simba with 9, and sees the exit of Wydad and Galaxy.
Another Tanzanian team, Young Africa's SC also sailed to the knockout stage.
