DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania
Tanzania’s anti-narcotics watchdog said on Thursday June 17 that it has seized 88.27 kilograms of heroin and methamphetamine.
The Commissioner General for the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA), Gerald Kusaya, said the drugs were seized in the outskirts of the commercial city of Dar es Salaam.
"The drugs were hidden in a car and we are holding the driver,” Kusaya told a news conference here.
Kusaya said the heroin weighed 12.25 kilograms and the methamphetamine weighed 76.02 kilograms.
He warned people against involvement in drug trafficking, saying the DCEA is monitoring around the clock.
