KIGALI, Rwanda
RUD-Urunana an armed terror outfit of Rwandans based in DRC has suffered a huge blow after its leader Col Mpiranya Leo Cyprien was shot dead in an operation conducted by the Congolese Military.
Reports indicate that members
of RUD-Urunana were attacked at their base in Makoka, in the territory of
Rutshuru in Eastern part of the vast mineral rich country.
Insiders also claim that Col
Mpiranya known by his bush name as Kagoma, has recently been in deep
disagreement with Col Rugema one of the group leaders.
According to Civil society
groups working in this part of Congo, Mpiranya was killed on Friday at midnight
in a deadly attack at Binza village.
Col Mpiranya has a family
currently living at Mubende district in neighbouring Uganda where RUD-Urunana
enjoys massive support and its Ugandan activities
coordinated by Sulah Nuwamanya.
According to sources
RUD-Urunana was created by Uganda’s intelligence with the specific mission of destabilizing Rwanda under the coordination of Philemon Mateke.
Last year on the night of
October 4, RUD-Urunana carried out an attack in Kinigi, Musanze district, in
the Northern Province, which claimed 14 lives and injured 18 people.
Rwandan security forces
repulsed the killers, killing nineteen and apprehending five. Three of the
commanders who managed to escape withdrew to Uganda.
