President of Rwanda appoints new army leaders

KIGALI, Rwanda

The President of the Republic of Rwanda and Commander-in-Chief of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has appointed two senior officers to key positions, effective immediately.

Major General Alex Kagame (Right) has been named Chief of Staff of the Reserve Force. He recently completed his assignment as Commander of the Rwanda Security Forces Joint Task Force (JTF) in Mozambique in September, where he led critical operations in the Cabo Delgado region.

Major General Andrew Kagame (Left) has been appointed Commander of the 1st Division. Before this new role, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Reserve Force, further enhancing his leadership within RDF’s strategic operations.

These appointments are part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the RDF’s leadership and operational readiness.
