KAMPALA, Uganda
Uganda police in Kiboga district, have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which unknown armed men attacked a police post, shot dead two police officers and took off with their guns.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga |
According to the Wamala regional police
spokesperson, ASP Racheal Kawala, the incident happened at around 7:30pm when
unknown gunmen raided Naksozi police post in Kiboga district.
“The facts indicate that the officers were
attacked while seated at the police post, by a gang of four armed men, dressed
in civilian attire. The deceased officers have been identified as Cpl Francis
Nsubuga and SPC Paul Ddimba,”Kawala said.
She said that whereas the motive of the
attackers is not yet known, a team from the Fly Squad has been dispatched to
identify and arrest the suspects.
This is the second incident in the district in
a space of nine days in which police officers are targeted, killed and guns
taken.
In a similar incident in Mityana on December,
7, two police officers were shot dead by robbers who lured them to their
killing zone and took their guns.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga early this
week noted that they have registered four serious incidents of “senseless”
attacks on security personnel in which six security personnel have been
attacked by unknown assailants in the past four months.
