King Felipe VI of Spain visits Angola

LUANDA, Angola

King Felipe VI of Spain Tuesday arrived at the Presidential Palace to address in private with the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, issues related to cooperation between the two countries and at international level.

The King Felipe VI, accompanied by Queen Letizia Ortiz, has been in Luanda for 72-hour official visit to Angola, at the invitation of the Angolan Head of State.

At the Presidential Palace, in addition to the meeting with the Angolan Head of State João Lourenço, the agenda includes signing of treaties, decorations and official lunch.

Bilateral relations between Angola and the Kingdom of Spain are based on the General Cooperation Agreement, signed on May 20, 1987, and the Complementary Agreement to the General Agreement signed in November 1987.

Cooperation between the two countries has intensified in the business sector, with the presence of Spanish companies in Angola.

Spain has more than 60 companies operating in Angola in different sectors, such as Energy, Banking, Construction and Agriculture.

In September 2021, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, visited the Kingdom of Spain, during which he had a meeting, at the Palace of Zarzuela, with King Felipe VI.

The two Statesmen addressed, on the occasion, issues related to bilateral cooperation, which Luanda and Madrid want to see expanded.

The King of Spain, Felipe VI, arrived in Luanda on Monday night, for a three-day official visit to Angola, his first to the country.
