Kaizer Chiefs finish unfinished job with Moroccos

CASABLANCA, Morocco

Kaizer Chiefs did the “business” in Morocco, but coach Arthur Zwane knows the job is far from done in their quest to reach a historic first CAF Champions League final.

The Amakhosi secured a fantastic 1-0 away win in the first leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final against Wydad Athletic Club in Casablanca to put themselves in the driving seat in the tie.

"We came here to do the business and we did exactly that. We are happy with the result, but we know it’s not yet over. We have the second leg back home in Johannesburg and we will try and finish it off there,” Zwane said immediately after the game.

Zwane was elated with a clean sheet, achieved under considerable pressure from Wydad, with the bonus of Samir Nurkovic’s winner earning the Amakhosi a vital away win.

"We’ve done what we came here for, we kept a clean sheet and we wanted a goal or two. The one is okay. They will open up a bit when they come to play us and we will try and punish them. We have another 90 minutes, it will be difficult. We were very disciplined and we hope to keep a clean sheet at home as well,” said Zwane.

Goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma’s man-of-the-match performance ensured Chiefs head to Johannesburg holding a slight advantage, as he at times single-handedly kept the Amakhosi in the game against Wydad with a number of crucial saves.

"Everyone gave 100 percent, I’m happy with the result and with the clean sheet. We know it’s not over, it’s only halfway. We just have to keep going and working hard,” Bvuma said after the game.
