Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Seniors and Children,
Ummy Mwalimu, in a press release on Wednesday, warned the citizen from
posting fake information on transmission data that can cause uncalled for
alarm.
She noted that all the twenty-nine patients are Tanzanians who had no
history of travel outside the country but were identified through contact
tracing.
"Twenty-six of the patients are in the Commercial city of Dar es
Salaam, two are in the Lake Victoria city of Mwanza and one patient is in
Kilimanjaro region." Said Ummy adding that all patients are receiving
treatment from health facilities in the respective regions and that health
workers are tracing their contacts.
The Minister noted that 11 people have recovered from the disease,
after testing negative for the coronavirus with confirmed four deaths.
Ummy emphasized on the need for Tanzanians to take precautionary
measures to prevent them from contracting the disease, and avoid unwanted
gatherings.
The Minister's up-date statements do not show the number of all tested
individuals making it difficult to project pandemic prevalence in the country.
Report from Nairobi Kenya shows that the number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya rose to 225 on Wednesday with the reporting of nine more positive cases of the disease.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 803 samples had been tested since Tuesday, when the ministry reported a total of 216 confirmed cases since the coronavirus was first reported in Kenya.
CS Kagwe said all the new patients were Kenyans and that five cases were reported in Nairobi and four in Mombasa.
He further said a total of 2,366 people had been tested and 1,911 released, leaving 455 under follow-up. -Africa
