The CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup will come to a climax this afternoon as Burundi face Tanzania in the final at the Bahir Dar Stadium, Ethiopia.

Interestingly the two
teams qualified for the final stage without losing a match in the group stage.
At the semi-final stage
Burundi ejected Kenya’s Emerging Stars 4-2 in penalty shoot outs after a
goalless draw, while Tanzania saw off hard fighting South Sudan 1-0.
Jimmy Ndayizeye, the
Burundi coach had made it clear that they are determined to go all out and win
the game. “We have battled to reach this far and we must fight to win the
trophy,” said the coach.
The coach made it clear
that since they have watched Tanzania play three matches now and they know how
they will approach the match.
Kim Poulsen, the Tanzania coach said his players are ready and well-motivated for the final.

“They are all prepared
and ready to give their best in the final. Burundi will be a very difficult
team to play, but we shall plan accordingly,” said Poulsen whose team has only
conceded one goal from three matches played.
The competition, the first on 2021 CECAFA calendar has attracted nine teams including guest side Democratic Republic of Congo.
